Jintao Kiwi

The Jintao variety, a natural selection of Actinidia Chinensis, is a special variety of kiwis obtained with the collaboration of the University of Udine. The trade name of the cultivar is Jintao, literally: golden fruit.

  • Cold requirement: medium, lower than Hayward.
  • Vigour: inferior to Hayward, close internodes.
  • Budding: a few days ahead of Hayward, opening of the buds: 80-90%.
  • Flowering period: one week ahead of Hayward.
  • Fruit load: medium-high.
  • Harvest period: two weeks ahead of Hayward.
  • Pulp colour: yellow.
  • External appearance: regular cylindrical shape, hazelnut-coloured glabrous epidermis. It does not have double fruits, duplications or flat fruits.
  • Calibre: medium (from approximately 80 to 130 g).
  • Organoleptic characteristics: the high sugar content and the balanced acidity (-25% compared to green pulp) give it a sweet and aromatic taste.
  • Nutraceutical properties: high content of Vitamin C (on average +145% compared to green pulp kiwi), polyphenols (+80%) and potassium.
  • Shelf life: thanks also to the remarkable consistency of the epidermis, it can be stored for up to over 6 months in the refrigerator.
Jinyan Kiwi
The yellow pulp kiwi
of superior calibre

The Jinyan variety derives from the natural crossbreeding of Actinidia Eriantha and Actinidia Chinensis, which gives origin to a yellow pulp kiwi that is large in size.

  • Cold requirement: low, lower than Jintao.
  • Vigour: high, internodes 5-10 cm.
  • Budding: approximately one week ahead of Hayward.
  • Flowering period: approximately 10 days ahead of Hayward.
  • Fruit load: high.
  • Harvest period: similar to Hayward.
  • Pulp colour: bright yellow.
  • External appearance: cylindrical shape, glabrous epidermis.
  • Calibre: medium – large (larger than Hayward).
  • Organoleptic characteristics: soft and juicy pulp, sweet and aromatic taste.
  • Nutraceutical properties: high content of Vitamin C (on average +60% compared to Hayward), potassium (+45%), calcium (+30%).
  • Shelf life: very good, even 8 months at controlled temperature and atmosphere.
Plus Jingold Kiwi
The green pulp kiwi
with high Vitamin C content

The Plus Jingold Kiwi variety represents the most tasty green pulp variety with a high Vitamin C content.
It is characterised by an intense, juicy and sweet green pulp and it derives from the improvements made on a pre-existing variety.

  • Vigour: high, thick leaves, high production.
  • Budding: like Hayward.
  • Flowering period: like Hayward.
  • Harvest period: like Hayward.
  • Adaptability: more tolerant than Hayward to low temperatures, humidity and to the main pathogens of Actinidia.
  • Pulp colour: dark green.
  • External appearance: elliptical shape, slightly irregular.
  • Calibre: high (average weight 100 g).
  • Organoleptic characteristics: very high taste characteristics, sweet and juicy pulp.
  • Nutraceutical properties: high Vitamin C content (over 200 mg/100 g, approximately double that of a Hayward kiwi).
  • Shelf life: very good.
Boerica Kiwi
The outstanding Italian

The Boerica variety is the outstanding Italian green pulp variety.
As its genetic origin, it is characterised by being a natural mutation of Hayward.

  • Vigour and productivity: similar to Hayward.
  • Production efficiency: lower production of lateral fruits, with consequential reduced production of “triples” and deformed fruits.
  • Budding: like Hayward.
  • Flowering period: like Hayward. Harvest period: like Hayward.
  • Pulp: intermediate green colour with high consistency.
  • External appearance: cylindrical and elongated (more than Hayward) and with a length/diameter ratio of 1.44 (for Hayward it is 1.26).
  • Calibre: high (average weight over 100 g).
  • Organoleptic characteristics: high taste characteristics, sweet and juicy pulp.
  • Nutraceutical properties: high content of Vitamin C.
  • Shelf life: good.
Oriental Red® Kiwi
The first red pulp kiwi
with a long shelf life

The Oriental Red® variety derives from a process of study and improvement of the red pulp kiwi variety existing in nature.
It is characterised by a yellow pulp striped with red veining and a delightful exotic aroma.

  • Cold requirement: low, lower than Jintao.
  • Vigour: medium-high, single fruits for over 80%.
  • Budding: approximately 10-15 days ahead of Hayward.
  • Flowering period: approximately 15 days ahead of Hayward, duration of flowering 6-7 days, opening of the buds over 70%.
  • Fruit load: high.
  • Harvest period: one month ahead of Hayward.
  • Pulp colour: golden yellow flesh, bright red endocarp.
  • External appearance: cylindrical shape, thick and glabrous epidermis.
  • Calibre: medium (approximately 80-90 g).
  • Organoleptic characteristics: high content of dry substances and high degree of sugar, sweet and intense taste.
  • Nutraceutical properties: high content of Vitamin C (120 – 150 mg/100 g).
  • Shelf life: excellent shelf life, over 5 months in the refrigerator.
