Characteristics of the plant:

  • Vigour: Lower than Hayward, with close internodes
  • Budding: It occurs a few days earlier than Hayward
  • Bud opening: 80-90%
  • Flowering: One week earlier than Hayward
  • Harvest time: Medium-early (10th -20th October in Emilia-Romagna)
  • Cooling demand: low (350-450 hours approx.), that is why it can be easily grown in the South

Characteristics of the fruit:

  • Colour of the flesh: yellow
  • Outer look: Regular cylindrical shape, hazelnut-coloured skin, hairless. It does not yield twin or flattened fruit
  • Medium size: 90 g (size ranges from 70 to 130 g approx.)
  • Sensorial characteristics: The high sugar content and balanced acidity (-25% compared to the green one) give it a sweet and aromatic taste
  • Nutraceutical properties: High content of Vitamin C (+145% compared to the green kiwifruit), polyphenols (+80%) and potassium
  • Shelf life: Thanks to its remarkably thick skin, it keeps more than 6 months in the fridge

Jinyan kiwifruit

The yellow kiwifruit for overseas markets

The Jinyan variety is the result of the cross-breeding between Actinidia Eriantha and Actinidia Chinensis. This gives a yellow flesh kiwifruit suitable for overseas markets, for which this plant has been especially conceived.

Characteristics of the plant:

  • High vigour, 5-10 cm internodal distance
  • Budding: approx. one week earlier than Hayward
  • Flowering: approx. 10 days earlier than Hayward
  • Harvest time: it occurs a few days earlier than Hayward
  • Adaptability: resistant to high summer temperatures and low winter temperatures, resistant to the main Actinidia pathogens

Characteristics of the fruit:

  • Colour of the flesh: Bright yellow
  • – Outer look: regular cylindrical shape and hairless skin
  • – Size: Medium-large/larger than Hayward)
  • Sensorial characteristics: soft and juicy flesh, sweet and aromatic taste
